5:34 pm (US Eastern) System monitoring and internal testing indicates the primary Review Star application server is offline. We are working with our hosting provider to identify and resolve the issue. Application and jobs processing are both affected.

7:11 pm (US Eastern) System monitoring and internal testing indicates all systems are functioning normally.

❌ System Outage (Application) – October 10, 2023

First attempt at deploying image thumbnail and display updates (Release 2.10.0) failed due to small but important differences in production environment CPU type and production database configuration.

  • 21:05 EDT – External monitoring reported system outage
  • 22:23 EDT – Review Star application and jobs processing restored.

Total downtime was approximately 1 hour 20 minutes during troubleshooting, triage, and rollback to v2.9.3 .

❌ System Outage (Hosting Provider) – July 5, 2023

The Review Star application hosting provider experienced a failure of both primary and secondary power sources, impacting all of their customers. This impacts all Review Star services and customers. The hosting provider’s crews were working to restore power and provide updates.

  • 07:25 EDT – External monitoring reported system outage
  • 11:30 EDT – Review Star application and jobs processing remain offline due to hosting provider outage.
  • 13:30 EDT – Review Star application and jobs processing remain offline.
  • 22:30 EDT – Hosting services partially restored, however Review Star application and jobs processing remain offline pending full restoration of services. We will continue monitoring the situation and provide updates as soon as they are available.
  • July 6 09:00 EDT – Review Star application and jobs processing restored.

Our total downtime due to hosting provider issues was approximately 25.5 hours. We are assessing options for improving application resiliency in case of future hosting provider issues.
